Private Client Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Penderlaw are currently seeking a full time Paralegal / Legal Assistant in Private Client, with immediate start.

The role is very much client facing and customer focused, so the ideal candidate will be confident, organised and professional, and must be comfortable with being the first point of contact for clients, as well as capable of handling a variety of tasks related to administration. Training will be given. Experience in a role handling confidential and sensitive information would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will work directly in our Private Client team, where they will deal with individuals instructing the firm on a variety of matters including wills, lasting powers of attorney, trusts and estate administration.

Office opening hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00, there is a level of flexibility on offer for the right individual. Salary is negotiable and based on experience.

The Role

  • Call handling – Assisting clients, diverting calls and taking comprehensive messages for fee earners
  • Delivery of an effective and client focused service both over the phone and face to face
  • Taking client instructions, updating clients and third parties on the progression of their matter (both personal meetings and via telephone and emails)
  • Administration including file opening, drafting and/or preparing paperwork, running ID checks, checking and distribution of incoming post and preparation and posting of outgoing post and general housekeeping of files i.e. digital and paper filing, scanning and file closing
  • Complying with the firm’s procedures and manuals

About You

  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A high level of numeracy and computer literacy
  • Discretion and understanding of confidentiality in a legal setting
  • Excellent attention to detail, file management and organisational skills
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably within a legal environment and in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Adopting the firm’s ethos in maintaining a professional and friendly approach, with the upmost commitment to client care
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work using own initiative as well as working well as part of a team

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From £23,000.00 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday
